Privacy Policy

Effective August 22, 2026. Applies to the Frame browser extension and this website.

The short version

Frame is built to keep recordings on your computer. Capture, zoom detection, editing, and export run locally in the browser. Videos never leave the machine. Free does not require an account. We do not operate a media cloud.

Who we are

This policy describes how the Frame product (“Frame”, “we”) handles information. Frame is a screen recorder distributed as a Chrome/Edge/Brave extension, with a static marketing site.

What Frame processes on your device

The extension may process, entirely on your device:

• Tab or screen pixels you choose to record
• Click positions and timing, used to build automatic zooms
• Microphone and camera input, if you enable them (Pro)
• Editor state: zoom keyframes, backgrounds, crop, export presets
• A local license flag for Frame Pro

That data is stored in browser storage (for example chrome.storage and IndexedDB) or written to files you save. It is not uploaded to Frame as part of recording or export.

What we do not collect from recordings

• We do not receive your video, audio, or screenshots
• We do not receive page contents, cookies, or passwords from the tabs you record
• We do not use recordings for advertising or model training
• We do not require an email to start a Free recording

This website

The marketing site is static HTML. It may use:

• Local storage for UI state (for example, remembering that you opened the Pro demo instructions)
• A third-party font request to Google Fonts for Plus Jakarta Sans. Google may see your IP address as part of serving the font. You can block third-party requests; the site still works with system fonts.

We do not run a marketing pixel, analytics suite, or ad network on this site in the current build. If that changes, this policy will be updated before anything ships.

Purchases

When Stripe checkout is connected, payment details will be handled by Stripe, not stored by Frame. We expect to receive an email address and a payment reference so we can issue a Pro license. Card numbers go to Stripe, not to us. Until checkout is live, this site does not collect payment information and must not be used to enter a real card number.

License data

A Frame Pro license is stored locally in the extension so Pro features can work offline. It identifies that this browser profile is activated for one user. It is not a tracking identifier we scrape from the web.

Permissions

The extension requests only the browser permissions needed to record, detect clicks inside the page, and write the export. Those permissions are exercised locally. They are not a grant for us to read your browsing history on a server we do not have.

Children

Frame is not directed at children under 16. Do not use it to capture recordings of minors without an appropriate lawful basis and consent.

Retention

Because recordings stay on your disk, retention is yours. Uninstalling the extension deletes local extension storage. Files you exported remain where you saved them.

Changes

If the product grows a cloud feature, opt-in will be explicit, and this policy will say so before any video can leave the machine. We will date the revision at the top of this page.

Contact

Privacy questions: use the support channel listed with the product distribution (repository or store listing). There is no automated data-export portal because we do not hold your recordings.
