Privacy Policy
Effective October 4, 2026. Applies to the Cursorzoom browser extension and this website.
The short version
Cursorzoom is built to keep recordings on your computer. Capture, zoom detection, editing, and export run locally in the browser. Videos never leave the machine. Free does not require an account. We do not operate a media cloud.
Who we are
This policy describes how the Cursorzoom product (“Cursorzoom”, “we”) handles information. Cursorzoom is a screen recorder distributed as a Chrome/Edge/Brave extension, with a static marketing site.
What Cursorzoom processes on your device
The extension may process, entirely on your device:
- Tab or screen pixels you choose to record
- Click positions and timing, used to build automatic zooms
- Microphone and camera input, if you enable them (Pro)
- Editor state: zoom keyframes, backgrounds, crop, export presets
- Your Cursorzoom Pro license key, if you have one
That data is stored in browser storage (for example chrome.storage and IndexedDB) or written to files you save. It is not uploaded to Cursorzoom as part of recording or export.
What we do not collect from recordings
- We do not receive your video, audio, or screenshots
- We do not receive page contents, cookies, or passwords from the tabs you record
- We do not use recordings for advertising or model training
- We do not require an email to start a Free recording
This website
The marketing site is static HTML. It may use:
- A third-party font request to Google Fonts for Plus Jakarta Sans. Google may see your IP address as part of serving the font. You can block third-party requests; the site still works with system fonts.
- On the checkout page only, Paddle.js from Paddle’s CDN so overlay checkout can open. Paddle may see your IP address, browser details, and the payment information you submit to Paddle.
We do not run a marketing pixel, analytics suite, or ad network on this site in the current build. If that changes, this policy will be updated before anything ships.
Purchases
Paddle is the merchant of record and payment processor for Cursorzoom Pro. Card numbers and other payment details go to Paddle, not to Cursorzoom. This site does not host a card form; Pay $79 opens Paddle overlay checkout.
Refunds are described in Terms §9.
License keys
To issue a Pro license key, this site sends your email address and order number to our license endpoint (cursorzoom.com/api/license), which asks Paddle whether that order is a paid, unrefunded Cursorzoom Pro purchase made with that email. This happens right after checkout, and again whenever you use the license page. We do not keep a database of buyers; the endpoint answers and forgets. Our hosting provider (Vercel) may keep standard request logs, such as IP address and time, for a short period.
The key itself contains your email address and Paddle order number, signed so the extension can check it offline. It is stored in the extension (chrome.storage.local) in each browser where you activate it, and is never sent anywhere by the extension. Removing the license in the extension, or uninstalling it, deletes that copy.
Permissions
The extension requests the browser permissions needed to record the tab you chose, log clicks on that tab while a recording is running, keep the take on disk, write the export, and activate Pro after checkout on this site: activeTab, scripting, tabCapture, offscreen, storage, and unlimitedStorage. Click logging is injected when you hit Record, not on every website. A separate content script runs only on cursorzoom.com / www.cursorzoom.com so the license key shown after checkout can be handed to the extension. It does nothing on other sites. Those permissions are exercised locally. They are not a grant for us to read your browsing history on a server we do not have.
Children
Cursorzoom is not directed at children under 16. Do not use it to capture recordings of minors without an appropriate lawful basis and consent.
Retention
Because recordings stay on your disk, retention is yours. Uninstalling the extension deletes local extension storage. Files you exported remain where you saved them.
Changes
If the product grows a cloud feature, opt-in will be explicit, and this policy will say so before any video can leave the machine. We will date the revision at the top of this page.
